About Me
Why I joined WIC
I am interested in this group specifically because it is a group geared toward women to improve their financial status and/or knowledge about finances/investing/planning. I am trying to figure out the age range of women that join this sight, and I do not see a demographic area and that could be confidential information. I am an educated, experienced, and intelligent woman. I have planned OK for myself. I am the most knowledgeable woman in my group of friends of women and some circles of men that understand stocks, mutual funds, 401k, mortgages, refinancing, interest etc...and here is my problem --> that is NOT enough. I am looking for other women that know more and/or have different areas of expertise and experiences. I am looking for their stories, working through barriers, risks, and assisting me in expanding what I know....because I feel I am base to moderate level of knowledge. If you are considering mortgage loan process, return rate on stocks, interest calculation, how to assess if a loan package is the correct one for you, bank accounts 101, etc as base knowledge.
Ways to contribute to the community
- I am not sure. I have a knowledge base of some healthcare issues, and I am a registered dietitian and diabetes education and care specialist. I am not sure how I best see a fit here, but I would do my best to give back and be an asset.

Investment Experience
Successful investment experience
I bought my condo in the down turn of 2016-2018. I bought a short sale and put all of immediate savings into it. It has more than doubled in value.
Failed investment experience
I purchased a small amount of Teledoc stock at the onset of the pandemic - well a short time before because being in healthcare and knowing about teledoc, I knew it would be a decent risk. It more than doubled at the height of the pandemic, and I should have sold it. I wish I had someone to help me and challenge this area of investing because I have had to figure it out on my own. I had an advisor that wanted to charge me to look at what stocks I had purchased on my own. I didn't go for that, because I could not figure out his angle. I had no women to consult, which was eye opening. I am in my early 50s, and the women around me were looking to men specifically to answer financial questions. My gut one day told me to sell it and take the profit, ugh why didn't I listen???!!!??? It dropped like hot potatoes, and I sat there thinking it would go back up instead of taking what was left of the profit I could get out of it, again no one to talk to about this. Today I still have this stock...it is not coming back up instead of making 800-1000 dollars off of it and cashing out at the top, I am losing over 300 - ugh!!!!!!! I am waiting a little for the market to turn around before I sell it....but the days of Teledoc drawing that kind of profit are over...at least in my humble opinion.
