Why I joined WIC

I'm looking to connect with others that have different investment experiences than I have. I want to create a strong cash flow to supplement my IRA & 401k. It would also be great to connect with real estate investors to see what has worked well for them, how to get started and find out if now is still a good time to get in with prices high and rates going up.

Investment Experience

Successful investment experience

I invested in 3 bank stocks 2 years ago and all are still performing very well in spite of the turn-down in the overall stock market.

From investing in individual stocks, I've learned that I do much better if I stick to industries I have some familiarity or knowledge in. Some of the stocks I've purchased over the last 3 years that were outside of my area of expertise have not done as well. Another thing I've learned about my style of investing is I tend to be a buy and hold investor. I've realized over the last couple of years that I need to be open to selling when I think the tide is turning. Holding for the sake of holding is not a good strategy.

Failed investment experience

I'm currently experiencing this now. I should have sold a few investments, in industries I'm not as familiar, with about 6 months ago when they were up. If I had I would have avoided the downturn they took.
